Sleep is an activity that is very important for everyone’s overall health. Interesting fact is that we spend a quarter of our lives sleeping, but no one has explained why we sleep.

We all know that after a good sleep we are energized and with improved mood, but what exactly happens in the brain while we sleep? As it seems, our brain is everything but calm while we sleep.

This study was published recently in the journal “Current Biology “, which proved that the brain is stimulated during sleep and use information that is available to make a decision when awake.

A series of studies, conducted in 2013, showed that brain’s sleeping is like cleaning the house. Researchers from the University of Rochester have shown that damaged brain molecules are cleaned during sleep.

The brain stores information in long-term memory throughout dream intervals that send strong frequencies to the brain. This process is especially important for our motor skills such as driving, holding a tennis racket or practicing dance moves.
