Reduce the consumption of salty foods

Our body is constantly trying its best to keep the water and sodium ratio out of the cells on an adequate level. If you consume a large amount of sodium (salt), in order to maintain balance, the body tries to keep the water inside. This is known as fluid retention, and leads to swelling.

Reduce the consumption of foods with sugar

Fluid and sodium retention can occur if the insulin levels are increased. People with type 2 diabetes will especially have to watch out. This has also been linked with hypertension and heart problems.

Use natural diuretics
