A group of American scientists started a huge research to determine whether dark chocolate pills can prevent heart attack and stroke. The first results are expected in 3 years.
Scientists will include 18 000 respondents to test the effect of these chocolate pills which contain high concentrations of healthy nutrients found in dark chocolate.
Numerous researches associated the effect of nutrients found in dark chocolate, such as flavonoids, with the reduced risk of high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol concentration and insulin resistance.
The only problem is that excessive consumption of chocolate could result in high sugar and fat intake in the organism, explain researchers from “Brigham and Women’s Hospital”, in Boston.
In the four-year research, scientists will use flavonoids found in cocoa, and respondents will receive amounts of flavonoids that practically can’t be entered by consuming chocolate.
