They discovered that lauric acid, which contains 50 percent of coconut oil, destroys more than 93 percent of cancer cells in the colon.
Bowel cancer is now one of the most common forms of cancer among men and women.
Even though many patients use various natural remedies and products that help, and many claim that this bad disease can be prevented, medical experts are often skeptical and state that there has not been enough research conducted that would confirm that it is indeed like that.
However, on the other hand there are various studies that are published in various medical journals, and one of them is the research by the scientists from University of Adelaide, Australia. They namely found that lauric acid, which otherwise contains 50 percent of coconut oil, destroys more than 93 percent of cancer cells in the colon in humans after only 48 hours of treatment.
It is interesting that the lauric acid poisoned the cancer cells by simultaneously causing oxidative stress, thereby significantly reducing the level of glutathione (which is required for cancer cells to protect themselves against oxidative stress). Experiments conducted in in vitro Petri dishes, and in in vivo mice, show equivalent effect.
Lauric acid is otherwise found in breast milk, and is a fatty acid that supports the immune system and has antimicrobial properties.
Clinical studies of the American Society for Nutrition have shown that the fat in coconut oil may be useful in the treatment and prevention of conditions such as diabetes, osteoporosis, viraldiseases(mononucleosis, hepatitis C, herpes …), disease of the bile, Crohn’s disease and cancer.
It has been proven that coconut oil reduces the side effects of chemotherapy and improves quality of life in cancer patients.
